it's homecoming this week and the theme today is Wacky Wednesday

Nolan's class play

Nolan's class put on a play at the end of the school year. 
 He was a story teller.  I wanted to make him a long white beard but he said no way.

They did the play, sang some songs and then the teachers did a slide show.
The play was about a spider and some jungle animals.
We couldn't see real good from where we were sitting so I didn't do a video of the whole play.

Waiting until the kids' music concerts isn't the time to figure out a new camera but leave it to me to do that. I didn't get any videos of Kylie's songs and then at Nolan's concert the battery was dying. grrr!

Old World Wisconsin

Nolan's class had a field trip to Old World Wisconsin.

I'm not the best at taking pictures but here's what I did take:


blacksmith's shop. Nolan is turning the crank that blows air onto the coals to heat up the fire. Each kid had a turn to do this, Nolan was last so by then the fire was going good. Then the blacksmith took a piece of metal and shaped it into a hook on one end and a little loop on the other end and gave it to the class.


a one room school house. the kids also learned that the hickory stick was not for pointing but for spanking...I think the kids' were a bit surprised to find out that the teachers would hit the naughty students

So, the school year is ended...and what to do with all those school papers you wish to keep?

Well, after I threw out all the papers I didn't want to keep, I still had a decent pile left.

I needed something that would work for every years papers.

Ta-da!!


Did you know that you can go onto USPS website and order FREE Priority Mail boxes?

Well, you can and let me tell you...they work great for school papers!

Write name and school year on the outside, put papers in the inside and seal shut (if you wish..I haven't yet)



okay...so what do you do with all the stuff they make at school that's too big for the box...I just sorted by year, wrote their name and school year on a ziplock bag and then put the bags into a box.



and then because I have space in the laundry room above the cupboards, I put all the boxes up there...
