Kylie has a class trip to the zoo tomorrow. Her teacher sent a note home saying that it's okay if the kids want to bring a water bottle to carry. I thought "how will she carry it?" So, I went to my sewing table and dug through my huge container of denim and came up with this....
Kylie had jeans with a hole in the knee and I had cut the legs off and made shorts. Thankfully I kept the legs.
Items Needed:1 water bottle (I used the bigger of her two)
1 jean leg
ribbon or whatever you want for a strap
a scrap of material for the bottom of the bag

Step 1: Turn jeans inside out and cut off the hem from the jean leg. This will be the bottom of the bag.

Step 2: you need the bag to be 9x11" so measure the width and mark

then measure the height and mark

Step 3: cut off excess leg on top

Step 4: sew a new seam on the marks for the width. Use a pinking shears on the top of the bag. Then you don't have to hem the top.

Step 5: cut out a 4 1/2" circle for the bottom of the bag

Step 6: pin the circle to the bag and sew right sides together. I found that it was easier to pin half the bag and then sew and then continue pining as I finished sewing.

Step 7: Pin ribbon (or whatever you're using for a strap) to the bag and sewing the strap ends down. This was all I had for a strap. I think it's a little too thin but... We'll see how it holds up.

Step 8: You're done!
