our news

this poem popped into my head one day as I was thinking about God's timing and hoping to be able to use it some day.

We wanted a baby
either pink or blue
and God saw fit
to give us you

the day finally came.

sunbeams

sunbeams sneaking through my window
creeping up to my bed
slowly climbing upon my pillow
to waken up my head

birds are singing songs of wonder
as the sun wakens the day
songs of beauty and of magic
happy to see the suns rays

a pleasant smile widens my face
as on a new day I awake
singing birds and sunshine
the most of today I will make

my boots

My boots were made for wearing
so that's what I'm going to do

I'll wear them in the morning
and in the afternoon
but late in the evening
I'll leave them in my room

I'll wear them to the library
and to the shopping mall
but when it comes to water class
I'll keep them in the hall

I'll wear them to your house
and to grocery store
and when you come to my place
I'll wear them even more

I'll wear them at the diner
and at the childrens' school
but one place I won't wear 'em
will be in the pool

I will wear them to my church
that is twice every week
and if you think I need more
I'll smile and pat your cheek

Kylie is 9

One day I turned around and BAM,
I hit the number
9.
It was representing Kylie and the age she is now.

Wha, wait, huh, what
???
Okay, I know that I should still have a little squirt around here somewhere.
(looking)...
(looking)....
(looking).....
nope, don't see one.
Hmmm, that's weird.
I could swear it!
I mean, I'm only 25....
okay....
27.
Don't give me that look
I feel that age.
So anyway, I turned around and ran into
9.
And then I saw it!!
The long skinny legs,
The young girl face
The close to budding out of lifetime beauty.
WHAT?!?!
My daughter
can not be a head shorter than me!
I mean; I know that I'm short but really....
how can this little squirt be this tall already?!
Well, it kicked me in the gut when one day I went to my closet to get her a pair of
my shoes!!!!
I bet by next month she'll be able to tuck my face into her armpit.
This has got to be why every year I yearn for those extra 3 inches in height. I'm too young to have my little girl this close to my height.
They always say that the first five years go by fast
but what they don't tell you is that the next ones are gone in a flash!

winter is....

winter is falling snow
tumbling down down down
swaying back and forth
pretty white wonderful

winter is a hot cup of tea
warming your hands
calming your body
fragrant scents flowing up

winter is a reading good book
snuggling into the couch
burrowing under a blanket
comfy to spend many hours there

winter is a 1000 piece puzzle
thinking about what the piece is
fitting it into place
satisfaction when the picture is done

winter is spending time with friends
laughing at good stories and tales
joking about silly slip-ups
friendship is always wonderful

winter is playing games
winning is always the best
slapping cards on the table
happy to be together

winter is painting a room
flowing from one wall to the next
striping lines of two colors
love it is what your child feels

snow snow

snow snow where are you?
my kids are wondering too
we want to play
and build all day
but we can't do that without you

snowmen and snow bears
snow bunnies and snow chairs
snow forts and snowball fights
and sledding hills seem about right

we don't want a little just a lot
we want it spread around not just a spot
we want miles miles of snow
to build things so people say "whoa!"

please please we are begging
please dump it on us
we are waiting!

more of my writing

~~~
we can whine about life not being fair
or we can pick ourselves up by the boot straps
and make the most of each day
~~~

if someone pushes us down, do we stay down?
no!
we get right back up.
then don't let struggles and trials in life keep you down
get right back up!

~~~
your friends have got your back
even when they may be states away
~~~

friends are like pieces of gold
when you find one
put them in your pocket
they are very precious

~~~
each day:
go outside
take a deep breath and smell the air
be glad that you were given one more day
~~~

if you spend most of your time worrying
about life, money, health
then you are missing out on what life can be now

~~~
Halloween
there are ghosts and goblins
pirates and pandas
princesses and frogs
Snow White and Darth Vader
Spiderman, Batman
monkeys and bumblebees
tall skinny wizards
and short fat butterflies
they come creeping and crawling
flying and fluttering
some are happy, some glad
others are mean or bad
they come alone or together
carrying their buckets and bags
"trick or treat" they say
"give us candy" is shouted
the fun, the excitement
of choosing a costume
many months planning
for just the right one
every year is a new idea
so this year, I will be.......
a Worded Wednesday
I get selfish and want what I want
when I want it
I want things to go my way
so I don't have to face hard times
I face those struggles head on
and am amazed how well I get through them
I look back and can't believe it
with you by my side I did it
And now I look forward to see what will come
and still hope some good will come our way
April 14, 2011
I'll go anywhere with you
take me where the sun shines
take me where the birds sing
take me where the oceans roll
take me where the sand is warm
take me where mountains stand tall
take me where the beauty is rolling
take me where the sunset is breathtaking
take me where the crickets chirp
take me where the frogs croak
take me where the fish fly
take me where the leaves fall and whirl
take me where the snow is glistening
take me where the air is crisp
take me where the clouds are shaped
take me where the rain sings
take me where you will be
chivalry: courteous behaviour, esp towards women
I was quite surprised that the word is still in the dictionary!
I do believe that chivalry is dead.
Here's why I feel that way...
Experience #1: One day I was going into Kwik Trip to get some milk. A young man, by young I mean my age or younger, actually rushed, moved faster, picked up his speed to get in the door before me. I'm lucky the door didn't hit me in the face.
I inwardly snorted at his actions but didn't let it ruin my day.
Back in the car, Justin said something about the [jerk] trying to get through the door before me and how he made sure to get in before me.
Yeah, I know. That's because he doesn't know what chivalry is.
I'm not saying that he had to hold the door open for me but being courteous, he could have let me go through the door first.
But like I said, I wasn't bothered....until
Experience #2: I was at a store (I admit I forgot which one but it's not of importance to the story) and I was heading into the store. An older gentleman was going in about the same time. I wasn't expecting anything from him but he held the door open for me so that I could go through first.
I inwardly smiled to myself and thought, "now that's the way it should be".
It makes the lady feel appreciated and the man look courteous.
And everyone is happy!
But sadly, somewhere along the way chivalry was no longer being taught to those young boys who one day would be young men.
I wonder why this was. Was it when the ladies started demanding more rights and the men felt that it was a ladies right to open her own door?
So, chivarly will die out with this older generation unless the parents of today take some time to teach their sons that there is nothing wrong with holding the door for a lady and letting her go first. Nothing wrong with being courteous.
So, I now treasure every moment when a man holds the door for me or lets me go through first. I get a warm fuzzy feeling and he gets to check out my backside.
I give up
February is always a hard month for me.
The reason is that
I.just.can't.take.anymore.of.winter!!!
I'm sick and tired of the snow
of the slush and of the cold
I'm tired of the blowing icy wind
the froze fingers that won't bend
I'm sick of the piles and piles of snows
the unattractive thick and bulky clothes
I dream of sunshine and warm breeze
where I can dress light and not freeze
I dream of birds singing, flowers blooming
where I always feel great and grooving
Those days will soon come, I know
but, I'm sick and tired of the snow!
beauty
as I look around me, I see all the beauty
the heart stopping wonder of it all
the gleam and shine and glittering gems of awe
displayed out for all to glimpse and study
the bright yellow sunshine
the blueness of the sky
the puffy white clouds
glittering gems of snow flakes
green grass poking through the brown
to think that all this was created for us
but not by man, which is awesome in itself
do we treasure these beauties
or take them for granted
expecting them to always be there
what do you see?
do you see what I see
as you look beyond the mirror?
do you see the years
that have quickly passed us by?
do you ever wonder how it will end
as we walk together each day?
do you think about the years to come
and how we will still be blessed?
what do you see as you look back,
pleasant memories or regrets for all that wasn't done?
do you think of all the mistakes that we made
or do you see the growth that came from them?
do you see the memories that we now cherish
and will carry with us the rest of our days?
Do you ever wonder why,
ever wish if only it could have not been?
Do you ever cry because the memories
are just so precious that your heart aches?
do you see two hearts beating as one
as you look beyond the mirror?
December 13, 2010
feelings
sometimes I feel the cry, the scream
the so real it's got to be, dream
sometimes I feel the thoughts, the words
bubbling up wanting to break out, to escape
if only you could hear for yourself, for me
then I would not have to voice, to utter
if you just knew how I got through, how I felt
you would not have to guess, to speculate
it's not how, to you, I look, how I appear
you would know how I ache each day
the pain would disappear, no longer a trace
all it would take would be a clasp, an embrace
Happy Birthday to ME!!!
in honor of my birthday, I wrote myself a poem....
there once was a fine young couple
who wanted to add to their family
having one child was not enough
they wanted a girl cute and giggly
a friend and sibling for their son
a girl with blue eyes and a twinkle
a girl that would grow so gracefully
so at 30 she wouldn't have a wrinkle
they were amazed as the years went by
how beautiful and flawless she aged
no one could guess her years right
as so youth like was her image
so every year on that wonderful day
in the calendar month of November
they gather round their beautiful girl
to celebrate her birth and remember
It's Always Hunting Season Somewhere
The weather is starting to cool off
The leaves are starting to fall from trees
It's getting to be that time of year again
When the men pack up and leave home....
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
Yep, It's that time of the year again
When they start to get that familiar itch
They pull out their targets, blow off the dust
And work hard at polishing up their aim....
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
They start digging out their camouflage clothing
And marking many pages in the Cabela's catalogs
Saying, "Honey I need..." at least once a day
Only he knows why he can't wear what he has
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
As he heads out the door once again
The kids shout out to daddy
"Good Luck Daddy" "Get a big buck"
He turns back and smiles at them
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
He plans to sit out in the cold all day
Maybe or maybe not seeing a deer
But that is all a part of deer hunting
And he will gladly do it with a grin
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
The wives just groan and roll their eyes
Knowing what the next months will bring
An absentee husband every weekend
But inwardly they are pleased with the meat
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
To the men it is a very important part of their life
And the wives know that they can't be changed
So the men will continue this tradition every year
And the women will gather together and moan
IT'S ALWAYS HUNTING SEASON SOMEWHERE
~thanks to Heather for the idea~
ode to Justin
♫ a huntin' we will go
a huntin' we will go
we'll leave our wives
and all our chi'ds
then grab our gun and go
Todays Weather Poem
rain and wind everywhere
in your eyes in your hair
blinking winking quickly
clearing your eyes to see
clothing and hair blowing
fast hands keep panties from showing
kids and hats fly to great heights
waving weaving around like kites
inside is the place to be
warm with coffee or tea
under a blanket snuggled and cozy
a long nap or reading a good story
